These terms apply to uulka.com ("UULKA", "we"), operated by Digitallo in New Zealand. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

1. What UULKA is

UULKA provides stargazing forecasts and related information for general interest. It is not a safety service, an aviation, marine or emergency weather service, or professional advice of any kind.

2. Forecasts are estimates

Scores, verdicts, times and planner data are estimates produced from third-party weather model output and astronomical calculations. They can be wrong, and conditions at your location may differ. We do not guarantee accuracy, availability or fitness for any purpose. Do not rely on UULKA for decisions where a wrong forecast could cause harm.

3. Stay safe

Stargazing happens in the dark, often in remote places. You are responsible for your own safety: tell someone where you are going, dress for the weather, take a torch (a red one preserves night vision) and take care on roads, water and uneven ground. Never look at the Sun, with or without optical aid, except through certified solar eclipse glasses or filters.

3a. Satellites, radio and the sky tools

Satellite positions and pass times are calculated from public orbital data that becomes less accurate with age, and satellites can manoeuvre; treat times as approximate (a minute or two is common). The Sky, Overhead, Earth and Lab pages are for enjoyment and education, not for navigation, safety, aviation or collision avoidance. The Radio page describes amateur-radio frequencies for listening; transmitting requires a licence in most countries and is your responsibility. UULKA is not affiliated with NASA, ESA, CelesTrak or any other organisation mentioned.

Weather data: MET Norway (CC BY 4.0). City data: GeoNames (CC BY 4.0). Space weather data: NOAA SWPC (US Government data). Satellite orbits: CelesTrak. Space data and imagery: NASA. Headlines: Spaceflight News API. Star and constellation data: d3-celestial (BSD-3-Clause). Sky and orbit calculations: Astronomy Engine and satellite.js (MIT). These sources have their own terms and are credited in the footer and on the about page. UULKA processes this data and is not endorsed by any of these organisations.

6. Intellectual property

The UULKA name, logo, design, text and software are owned by us or our licensors, apart from the third-party data and software noted above, which stay under their own licences.

7. Advertising and links

The site is supported by advertising (when enabled). Ads are provided by third parties and we are not responsible for their content or for sites we link to.

8. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, UULKA is provided "as is" and we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or from reliance on any forecast. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud.

9. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Continued use means you accept the updated terms. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and its courts have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights you have where you live.
