Ami Clarke, 28, from Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, began experiencing endometriosis symptoms at 13 but was not diagnosed until a decade later. A new report from Endometriosis UK revealed the average wait for a diagnosis for the condition was now nine years and four months. It also found that 39% of respondents had to visit their doctor 10 or more times before it was suspected they had endometriosis and 46% of those who went to hospital were sent home without treatment. “People have horrendous periods and think they just have to live with it, but I’m here to say you don’t,” Clarke said.
