Ryder said he was on tour with his band Black Grape – formed after Happy Mondays split – when he fell ill. He said: “I got back to go to Mani’s funeral and collapsed, I couldn’t get out of bed. The Happy Mondays tour comes 35 years after the release of their best-selling album, Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches.Ryder said: “We made it at Capitol Studios which was like, walking into Capitol Studios was just like mind blowing.”There were Frank Sinatra photographs all over the place and all the huge bands that had worked there.”And it’s an iconic building as well, you see it on all the films.”From what I can remember, we made it [the album] really quick.”Bez, who was the band’s dancer and percussionist, best-known for playing the maracas, said he was looking forward to being back on the road in 2026.”You know what, it’s my natural habitat, that place, you know what I mean? “I can’t wait to get back on the stage again and do my thing.”
