Actors in the hit TV adaptation of Dame Jilly Cooper’s novel Rivals described her as “impish and joyous” when she appeared on set during filming. She made a surprise cameo appearance in the series last year. Dame Jilly, known for her best-selling books including Rivals and Riders, has died at the age of 88.
